According to the former explosive Indian batsman, Suryakumar Yadav’s aggressive leadership perfectly suits T20 cricket.

Virender Sehwag is highly impressed with Suryakumar’s fearless approach as captain. He believes that the Indian star’s attacking mindset can guide India to yet another Asia Cup title.

Last year, under Rohit Sharma’s leadership, India clinched their second T20 World Cup title. After the final, the veteran opener announced his retirement from international T20s, paving the way for Suryakumar Yadav to take over as captain in this format.

Even before being appointed full-time captain, Suryakumar had led India in T20Is whenever the regular skipper was unavailable. Under his leadership, the team has delivered impressive results — winning 17 out of 22 matches, losing just four, with one ending in a tie.

India’s dominance under Suryakumar continues, as they have won their last four consecutive T20I series. In a conversation with Sony Sports Network, Sehwag expressed confidence that India will also lift the upcoming Asia Cup trophy under Suryakumar’s captaincy.

“This Indian team has the perfect blend of youth and experience, and under Suryakumar’s fearless leadership, they can dominate the Asia Cup once again.”

“His attacking mindset suits the T20 format perfectly. If the team plays with the same intent, I have no doubt India will win the title.”

In the eight-team Asia Cup, India has been placed in Group A alongside hosts UAE, Pakistan, and Oman.

India will kick off their campaign on 10th September against the UAE, followed by a high-voltage clash against arch-rivals Pakistan on 14th September. Their final group-stage match will be against Oman on 19th September.

Across ODI and T20 formats, 16 editions of the Asia Cup have been held so far, with India winning a record eight titles — a feat they’ll aim to extend under Suryakumar’s fearless leadership.
