Returning to the playing XI, Nasum Ahmed delivered a stellar bowling performance, while the other bowlers backed him up brilliantly as Bangladesh cruised to a commanding win and sealed the series against the Netherlands.
The second T20I of the three-match series was played on the same pitch as the first, but this time the Netherlands couldn’t even get close to their previous score. Organized primarily as match practice ahead of the Asia Cup, the series didn’t really test Bangladesh’s batting lineup — but the bowlers had no complaints, as another collective effort laid the foundation for victory.
Bangladesh bundled out the Netherlands for just 103 runs and chased it down effortlessly, securing a nine-wicket win with 41 balls to spare.
Making his comeback, Nasum Ahmed was the hero, claiming three wickets, while Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman continued their fine form.
Chasing a modest target, opener Tanzid Hasan played a composed knock, remaining unbeaten on 54 off 40 balls, guiding Bangladesh to victory.
This marks Bangladesh’s third consecutive series win. After triumphing over Sri Lanka in July and then defeating Pakistan at home, Liton Das’ side continued their dominant run.
Winning the toss for the second straight time, skipper Liton Das opted to bowl first at the Sylhet International Stadium. The decision paid off as Nasum, replacing Rishad Hossain in the XI, struck twice in the third over.
Max O’Dowd, who began with a boundary, fell first, misreading the slow pitch and mistiming a shot. Teja Nidamanuru followed immediately, dismissed first ball trying to attack Nasum.
Vikramjit Singh attempted a counterattack, smashing boundaries off Nasum and Mehidy Hasan, but his 17-ball 24 ended when he ramped Taskin Ahmed straight into the hands of short third man.
None of the Dutch batters could settle in. Mustafizur Rahman returned to remove skipper Scott Edwards, while Saif Hassan’s sharp fielding ran out Noah Croes. Shariz Ahmed was undone by Tanzim Hasan Sakib’s bouncer, and returning veteran Sikander Zulfiqar was bowled by Mustafiz for just 2.
At 81 for 9, the Dutch were staring at a collapse, but Aryan Dutt showed some resistance with a career-best 30 off 24 balls, adding 23 runs for the last wicket with Daniel Doram to take the total past 100.
The chase was straightforward. Parvez Hossain Emon scored a brisk 23 off 21 before departing, but Tanzid took charge. Starting cautiously, he accelerated after settling in, reaching his sixth T20I fifty off 39 balls. Liton Das stayed unbeaten on 18 off 18, ensuring Bangladesh crossed the line comfortably.
