No replacement was needed as Britski has recovered.
South African batter Tony de Zorzi, who suffered a hamstring injury in the first ODI against England, will miss the remaining two matches of the series.
The unexpected incident occurred on Tuesday at Leeds during the last ball of the 17th over. While fielding at the boundary, de Zorzi dived to stop a shot from Jos Buttler and injured his left hamstring. Although he successfully saved four runs, he had to leave the field due to the injury.
It was quickly confirmed that he would not field again and would only bat if needed. However, chasing a modest target of 132, de Zorzi did not get a chance to bat. He will now return home and undergo a scan to assess the extent of his injury.
No replacement was required in the squad since de Zorzi was primarily a reserve player. His place on the field had been taken by Matthew Britski, who had previously struggled with a left hamstring injury sustained during the Australia series.
Britski has now fully recovered and is likely to return to the playing XI for the second ODI on Thursday, potentially batting at number four.
The status of pacer Kagiso Rabada remains unclear. He missed the Australia ODI series due to an ankle injury and did not feature in the first ODI at Headingley. Cody Yusuf from Durham has been called up, hinting that Rabada may not return before the T20 series.
Captain Temba Bavuma also faces some uncertainty. After recovering from a hamstring injury sustained in the Test Championship final last June, he played two of three ODIs against Australia and the first ODI in England. Considering workload management, he may be rested for at least one of the remaining two matches.
South Africa currently leads the three-match series 1-0 after a seven-wicket win in the first ODI.
