South Africa’s explosive batter David Miller will continue to miss action, as his much-awaited return has been delayed once again. After skipping the Australia tour, the 36-year-old won’t feature in the upcoming T20I series against England either due to injury.
Miller was expected to make his comeback to the national side during the England T20Is, but fate had other plans. The hard-hitting left-hander suffered a right hamstring injury during the latter stages of The Hundred and hasn’t recovered fully, ruling him out of the entire series.
The last time Miller represented South Africa was back in March, during the Champions Trophy semi-final against New Zealand, where the Proteas suffered a 50-run defeat. Following that, he was rested for the tri-nation T20I series in Zimbabwe in July, along with several other senior players.
Later, Miller received clearance from the South African board to participate in The Hundred in England, which meant he missed the Australia tour in August, including both the ODI and T20I series. He was also absent from the subsequent ODI series against England.
Had he been fit, Miller was set to return against England in this three-match T20I series. However, his injury has forced South Africa to continue without him, and the team hasn’t announced a replacement yet.
Meanwhile, South Africa recently clinched a 2-1 ODI series win over England and will now look to carry that momentum into the T20Is. The first match kicks off on Wednesday in Cardiff, followed by the remaining two games at Old Trafford on Friday and Trent Bridge on Sunday.
