Vivian Kingma has been banned for three months.
The Dutch pacer received the punishment after testing positive in a doping test. The ICC has suspended him for three months.
The world cricket’s governing body announced the decision on Tuesday.
Kingma tested positive after playing in an ICC World Cup League Two match against the UAE on May 12. His sample showed the presence of benzoylecgonine, a metabolite of cocaine. Cocaine turns into benzoylecgonine after being metabolized in the stomach and is then excreted in urine.
Kingma has admitted his mistake. He stated that he took the ‘recreational drug’ while he was outside any cricket tournament.
His ban started on August 15. If he completes the approved treatment process satisfactorily, the suspension could be reduced to one month.
