With stellar performances in all three departments, Nepal once again defeated the two-time T20 World Champions, West Indies, to claim a historic series victory.
Batting on a better wicket than the first match, Nepal’s Asif Sheikh and Sandeep Jora built a formidable total with brilliant half-centuries. Later, their disciplined bowling dismantled the West Indies lineup, giving the ICC associate nation an unforgettable triumph.
At Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Monday, Nepal chased a commanding total of 173 and bowled out the West Indies for just 83, securing a 90-run victory in the second T20I.
With this win, Nepal clinched the three-match series 1-0 with one match to spare, marking the Asian nation’s first bilateral series win against a Test-playing team.
Nepal also set a record for the largest T20I victory by an associate nation over a Test-playing side. Previously, Afghanistan’s 81-run win over Zimbabwe in 2016 at Sharjah held the record.
The West Indies’ 83-run total became their lowest ever against an associate nation in T20Is. Previously, England’s 88 against the Netherlands in Chattogram during the 2014 World Cup was the lowest.
Several West Indies stars, including regular captain Shai Hope, were absent due to India’s Test series. Yet, Nepal’s credit remains undiminished—they convincingly won both matches, including the first by 19 runs chasing 148.
In addition to excellent batting and bowling, Nepal’s fielding was exceptional, with several spectacular catches.
Among Nepal’s top six batsmen, only two reached double figures—and both scored fifties. Asif Sheikh remained unbeaten on 68 off 47 balls, featuring 8 fours and 2 sixes, earning Man of the Match honors. Sandeep Jora, batting at number five, struck 63 off 39 balls with 5 sixes and 3 fours.
Their partnership of 100 runs off 66 balls became Nepal’s highest fourth-wicket stand in T20Is. Asif had previously been part of a 99-run stand with Rohit Paudel against UAE in 2023.
With the ball, Mohammad Adil Alam was Nepal’s standout bowler. The 21-year-old pacer claimed 4 wickets for 24 runs in 4 overs, his career-best performance. Leg-spinner Kushal Bhurtel picked up 3 wickets for 16 runs.
