In a blistering innings featuring 10 sixes, Habibur Rahman Sohan set the record for the fastest fifty and fastest century by a Bangladeshi batsman.
After just 5 overs, one opener had scored 3 runs while another had 88! That alone shows how destructive Habibur Rahman Sohan was at the crease. At one point, he was even on course to challenge the world record for the fastest T20 century, though he fell just short. Nevertheless, he etched his name in history with Bangladesh’s fastest fifty and century.
In the Asia Cricket Council Rising Stars Tournament, Sohan’s explosive innings helped Bangladesh ‘A’ thrash Hong Kong by 8 wickets, kicking off their campaign in style.
On Saturday in Doha, Bangladesh chased down Hong Kong’s 167-run target in just 11 overs.
After smashing a record fifty off just 14 balls, Sohan reached his century in 35 balls, creating yet another milestone. With 8 fours and 10 sixes, he remained unbeaten on exactly 100 runs.
Now, Sohan holds the record for the fastest century for a Bangladeshi batsman in both List-A and T20 cricket. In List-A cricket, his century came off 49 balls.
After Sohan reached three figures, Akbar Ali finished the innings with five consecutive sixes. Bangladesh’s captain remained unbeaten with 41 runs off 13 balls.
