Mushfiqur Rahim’s “hundredth Test” is set to be a landmark moment, and the BCB has crafted a series of plans to make the occasion truly memorable.
While the milestone belongs to Mushfiqur Rahim, it is equally a proud achievement for Bangladesh cricket. As the first Bangladeshi cricketer to reach the 100-Test milestone, the moment calls for a collective celebration. To mark this historic feat, the BCB has arranged several special events.
Board officials had hinted many times that Mushfiqur’s “100th Test” would feature unique celebrations. Ahead of the match, the BCB revealed the full schedule of its plans.
These formalities will take place right after the toss and before play begins. At 9:16 AM, the Bangladesh team will walk onto the field and line up together. At 9:17 AM, Habibul Bashar — the man who handed Mushfiqur his very first Test cap at Lord’s 20 years ago — will present him with a special Test cap.
At 9:19 AM, Akram Khan, Bangladesh’s first-ever Test cricketer, will hand over another specially crafted cap to Mushfiqur. As the first player alphabetically from the squad of 11 who debuted in Bangladesh’s inaugural Test, Akram holds the No.1 spot on the Test players’ list.
After that, BCB President Aminul Islam Bulbul and Cricket Operations Chairman Nazmul Abedin will present Mushfiqur with a commemorative gift.
Mushfiqur will then receive a framed jersey signed by all his teammates, handed to him by his first Test captain, Habibul Bashar, and his 100th Test captain, Najmul Hossain Shanto. At 9:22 AM, Shanto will give a short speech, followed by Mushfiqur sharing his own thoughts.
The ceremony will conclude with an official team photo.
Mushfiqur’s parents and other family members will be present at the stadium to witness this special milestone. A group of his fans and supporters are also expected to attend.
In the days leading up to his “100th Test”, many former and current Bangladeshi cricketers have shared congratulatory messages on social media.
For this historic match, the BCB has also arranged free entry for school and college students and teachers. They must bring their ID cards and enter through Gate No. 5. They will be seated in the Shaheed Mushtaq Stand, with free drinking water available at the venue.
