In a thrilling final over, Pakistan ‘A’ secured their place in the title clash by defeating Sri Lanka ‘A’.
The opponent for Bangladesh ‘A’ in the final of the Asian Cricket Council Rising Stars Tournament is now confirmed. Akbar Ali’s side will face the Pakistan Shaheens (A team) in the championship match.
In the second semi-final on Friday in Doha, Qatar, Pakistan edged past Sri Lanka by 5 runs. Chasing Pakistan’s 153 for 9, the Sri Lankans managed 148 for 9.
At one stage, Sri Lanka was 8 wickets down for 99 runs, and Milan Ratnayake sparked a remarkable comeback. Needing 8 runs off the last 4 balls, he was trapped LBW by pacer Ubaid Shah for 40 off 32 balls. Replays, however, suggested the ball might have missed the leg stump!
Earlier that day, in the first semi-final, Bangladesh ‘A’ had advanced to the final after a dramatic super over win against India ‘A’.
The final will be played on the same ground on Sunday.
The ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup has been rebranded this year as the Rising Stars Tournament.
