Mitchell Starc has reached a career-best joint third place in the Test all-rounders rankings.
Travis Head made a significant jump in the rankings after scoring a century in the Adelaide Test against England. The Australian opener now sits joint third among Test batters alongside teammate Steven Smith. In the bowlers’ rankings, Australia captain Pat Cummins has climbed to second place.
The ICC released its weekly update of the men’s player rankings on Wednesday, where both Head and Cummins moved up four spots each.
After a disappointing first innings in the third Ashes Test, Head bounced back strongly in the second innings. The left-hander produced a brilliant knock of 170 off 219 balls, smashing 16 fours and two sixes.
Head now has 815 rating points, equal to Smith. New Zealand’s Kane Williamson is second with 822 points, while England’s Joe Root remains on top with 887 points.
In the match that confirmed Australia retained the Ashes with an 82-run win, Alex Carey impressed in the first innings. His 106-run knock helped him jump six places in the rankings, earning him a spot in the top ten for the first time at ninth.
Devon Conway starred against West Indies in the Mount Maunganui Test, scoring 227 and 100 across the two innings. He climbed 17 places to joint 17th alongside South Africa’s Aiden Markram.
New Zealand captain Tom Latham scored centuries in both innings of the same match, moving up seven spots to 31st. His teammate Rachin Ravindra climbed five places to 13th.
West Indies batter Kevam Hodge rose 11 places to 66th after his century, while teammate Brandon King made a big jump of 27 spots to 73rd.
England captain Ben Stokes moved up six places to 36th, while opener Zak Crawley also climbed six spots to 39th. Jamie Smith improved by five places to sit 26th.
Returning in the Adelaide Test, Cummins picked up three wickets in each innings. This performance pushed him closer to reclaiming the top spot in the bowlers’ rankings. He now has 849 rating points, with India’s Jasprit Bumrah leading on 879.
Jacob Duffy was outstanding in New Zealand’s 323-run win over West Indies, taking nine wickets including five in the second innings. He moved up ten places to 38th among bowlers. His teammate Ajaz Patel climbed four spots to 24th.
Jofra Archer made a big leap after taking six wickets in the match, including five in the first innings. He jumped 23 places to 54th.
England’s Josh Tongue moved up four places to 43rd, while West Indies’ Justin Greaves climbed 12 spots to 80th.
Mitchell Starc delivered an all-round performance against England, contributing scores of 54 and an unbeaten 7 with the bat, while taking four wickets with the ball.
As a result, Starc moved up two places to joint third in the Test all-rounders rankings alongside Ben Stokes, marking the best ranking of his career.
India’s Ravindra Jadeja remains at the top of the all-rounders list, followed by South Africa’s Marco Jansen in second place.
