Pep Guardiola signed new contracts with Manchester City in November during his previous two terms, and according to ESPN, history has repeated itself this time as well.

Guardiola’s connection with November for signing new contracts is well-established. In both prior instances, he chose this month to extend his stay. This time, too, ESPN reports that the Spanish coach will remain with Manchester City for at least another year, citing insider sources.

Under his current contract, Guardiola’s tenure at City was set to expire at the end of this season. There has never been any doubt about the club’s interest in retaining their most successful manager. However, Guardiola consistently emphasized that he didn’t want to rush the decision and would take his time before committing.

For Guardiola, November has always been a significant month for making such decisions. During the international break in November 2020 and 2022, he extended his contract with City. ESPN earlier suggested that the 53-year-old coach would decide during this year’s break as well.

Now, they report that Guardiola has had positive and productive discussions with the club’s management during this break, confirming that he will stay on for a tenth season with Manchester City.

Despite City’s current struggles, with four losses across all competitions in recent matches and surrendering the Premier League’s top spot, there is no question about Guardiola’s brilliance as a coach. He has transformed Manchester City from a mid-tier English club into one of the world’s best. Under his guidance, City has won 15 trophies in eight seasons, including six Premier League titles and the coveted Champions League.

Next season, they will also participate in the newly formatted Club World Cup.
