Three goals, all from penalties—English Premier League witnessed an unprecedented event. Last night, in Bournemouth’s 4-2 victory against Wolverhampton, Justin Kluivert achieved this remarkable hat-trick. It’s the first penalty hat-trick in the history of the Premier League.

Not just the hat-trick, there’s also a record in winning penalties. Bournemouth forward Evanilson became the first player in Premier League history to earn three penalties in a single match.

Interestingly, there were three more penalty goals scored on Saturday in the Premier League. Arsenal netted two penalty goals in their 5-2 victory over West Ham at the London Stadium, while Nottingham Forest’s 1-0 win against Ipswich Town also came from a penalty goal.

At Wolves’ home ground, Kluivert scored his first penalty in the third minute. He doubled his tally with another penalty in the 18th minute, setting a new record for scoring two penalty goals within the first 18 minutes of a Premier League match. The son of former Barcelona star Patrick Kluivert completed his penalty hat-trick in the 74th minute. Reflecting on his history-making performance in his 50th match for Bournemouth, the 25-year-old forward said, ‘It’s incredible to secure a place in history. I’m overjoyed.’

In another match last night, Arsenal secured a commanding victory at West Ham. All five of Arsenal’s goals came in the first half. Gabriel opened the scoring in the 10th minute, Leandro Trossard doubled the lead in the 27th minute, followed by Martin Ødegaard, Kai Havertz, and Bukayo Saka adding three more goals in the 34th, 36th, and the fifth minute of added time respectively. Notably, Ødegaard’s and Saka’s goals were from penalties.

West Ham managed to score twice, both in the first half. Currently, West Ham sits 14th on the Premier League table with 15 points from 13 matches.

Liverpool tops the table with 31 points from 12 matches, followed by Arsenal with 25 points from 13 matches. Brighton and Manchester City, with 23 points each, are placed third and fourth, with City having played one match less.
