Hansi Flick Eyes Improvement in Attack as Barcelona Turns to December

Barcelona coach Hansi Flick wants his team to be more clinical in front of goal. After a disappointing November, in which the team went winless in three of their four La Liga matches, Flick is hopeful that December will bring better results.

Barcelona started November with a promising 3-1 win over Espanyol at home. However, their next three league matches saw two defeats and a draw.

Before the international break, Barcelona suffered a 1-0 loss away to Real Sociedad. After the break, they conceded two late goals to settle for a 2-2 draw with Celta Vigo. While they managed a 3-0 victory over Brest in the Champions League, their La Liga struggles continued with a 2-1 loss to Las Palmas. Notably, this was their first home league defeat to Las Palmas since 1971, ending a 20-match unbeaten streak.

Having lost only once in their first 12 league games this season, Barcelona suffered two defeats in their next three matches, a bitter pill for the Catalan giants.

Looking to bounce back, Barcelona will face Real Mallorca away on Tuesday. Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Flick expressed optimism about turning things around in December.

“For me, the good news is that November is over, and we’re in December. I hope this month will be better. There’s still a long way to go. We want to win the league title, and everyone needs to fight for that,” said Flick.

“We are a young team. We have to learn and fight for victories. We can’t concede goals, and for that, we must defend as a team. In attack, we need to stay united as well.”

Barcelona’s struggles in attack were evident in the Las Palmas match, where they took 27 shots but managed to score only once. Flick emphasized the need for greater efficiency in converting chances.

“We played well against Las Palmas, but the loss was our fault. We need to be ready for such matches and to capitalize on the opportunities we create,” he said.

“We must focus on our attack. We may get two or three chances, and we have to make them count. In football, goals are what matter.”

Despite the recent setbacks, Barcelona remains atop the La Liga table with 34 points from 15 matches. Defending champions Real Madrid are close behind in second place with 33 points from 14 games.

With plenty of football still to be played, Flick and his team will be aiming to maintain their lead and find consistency in their performances as the season progresses.
