Manchester United tasted their first defeat under Ruben Amorim, delivering a lackluster performance as Arsenal continued their dominance with a 2-0 victory at the Emirates Stadium. Mikel Arteta’s side secured their fourth consecutive win over United in the Premier League, a feat achieved for the first time in the club’s history.

Arsenal displayed a much-improved performance in the second half after a dull and uninspiring first 45 minutes from both teams. Goals from Jurrien Timber and William Saliba sealed the win for the hosts.

In the first half, Arsenal managed only three shots, none of which were on target, while United took their first attempt at goal as late as the 42nd minute, a wayward effort from Mason Mount. However, the second half saw a transformed Arsenal.

The breakthrough came in the 54th minute when Declan Rice delivered a corner, and Jurrien Timber’s near-post header found the back of the net. United’s best chance arrived in the 67th minute, but David Raya brilliantly saved Matthijs de Ligt’s header from a Bruno Fernandes cross.

Arsenal doubled their lead in the 73rd minute, effectively shutting the door on any United comeback. Thomas Partey’s header from a Bukayo Saka corner deflected off Saliba’s back into the net.

With 28 points from 14 matches, Arsenal is third in the league, tied with Chelsea on points but behind on goal difference. Chelsea climbed to second with a resounding 5-1 win over Southampton.

Liverpool remains at the top with 35 points after a thrilling 3-3 draw against Newcastle. Meanwhile, Manchester City, following their 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest, sits in fourth place with 26 points.

Manchester United, with their fifth loss of the season, drops to 11th place with 19 points from 14 matches.
