Manchester City 1:2 Manchester United

Amid a tough patch, English champions Manchester City suffered their eighth loss in their last 11 matches across all competitions.

In the Manchester Derby, City seemed on the brink of victory. It looked like the struggling champions would secure the 3 points, but Manchester United made a stunning comeback in the final moments. In just three minutes, United scored twice to defeat Pep Guardiola’s team.

In the English Premier League, Manchester United won 2-1 against Manchester City on Sunday at home.

City went into the break leading 1-0 with a goal from Josko Gvardiol. But in the 87th minute, Bruno Fernandes converted a successful penalty to level the score, and Amad Diallo’s goal sealed a remarkable victory for Ruben Amorim’s team.

The match started slowly at the Etihad Stadium, with neither team creating significant chances. The first shot on goal came in the 21st minute when Phil Foden’s volley went just wide of the near post.

In the 37th minute, City took the lead. After a short corner, Kevin De Bruyne crossed into the box, and the ball deflected off a United player, allowing Gvardiol to leap above everyone else and head the ball into the net.

In added time, Foden nearly extended City’s lead, but United goalkeeper André Onana made a vital save, conceding only a corner.

United didn’t register a shot on target in the first half.

In the 62nd minute, Fernandes crossed for Diallo, whose header was saved by City goalkeeper Ederson. That was United’s first shot on target. Fernandes also missed a chance in the 74th minute, just barely failing to score.

United piled on the pressure, and City couldn’t handle it. In the 88th minute, Mateus Nunes fouled Diallo in the box, leading to a penalty. Fernandes calmly converted to equalize for United.

Just two minutes later, United took the lead. Lisandro Martínez threaded a brilliant pass to Diallo, who finished from a difficult angle to find the back of the net.

In the second half, City, who had been a shadow of their usual selves, couldn’t create any serious chances to equalize and ended up with their eighth loss in their last 11 matches across all competitions.

With 27 points from 16 matches, City is currently 5th in the league, while United, with 22 points from the same number of matches, has climbed to 12th.

Liverpool leads the league with 36 points from 15 matches.
