English forward Marcus Rashford’s future at Manchester United seems increasingly uncertain after being left out of the squad for three consecutive matches. Coach Ruben Amorim has explained the reason behind his exclusion, stating that Rashford has not been meeting the standards expected of a player at the club. However, Amorim also pointed out the path for Rashford to return to the team.

Rashford was not included in the squad for matches against Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur, and Bournemouth. After being dropped for the City clash, the 27-year-old forward hinted at a possible exit from the club, saying in an interview that he was ready for a new challenge.

Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, Amorim clarified that the decision to leave Rashford out was based on his performance in training, not his comments in the interview. He added that Rashford would remain sidelined until he meets the expected standards.

“I talk to him every day, not about interviews, but about performance. This (dropping him) is my decision. He wants to play. He’s trying. But it’s my decision, and mine alone. I try to do things my way. I know if I don’t, I’ll lose myself. And I’m not going to lose myself—I know what I’m doing,” Amorim said.

United, coming off back-to-back defeats against Tottenham and Bournemouth, will face Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League on Thursday. When asked what Rashford needs to do to be considered for a return, Amorim had a clear response: “Be the best he can be.”

“If we have big talents in the team, right now we need big performances, big responsibility, and more dedication to carry everyone forward. Like any other player, we want him to be the best he can be,” he added.
