São Paulo has signed former Chelsea midfielder Oscar on a three-year deal, marking his return to his old stomping ground. The Brazilian midfielder couldn’t contain his joy at being back “home.”

The Brazilian Série A club officially announced the three-year contract with the 33-year-old on Tuesday.

Oscar began his journey with São Paulo’s youth team from 2004 to 2008 before playing for their senior team for two years. He spent a significant part of his career at Chelsea, making 203 appearances across all competitions, scoring 38 goals, and winning the Premier League, League Cup, and Europa League during his four-and-a-half-year stint.

For the past eight seasons, Oscar played for Chinese club Shanghai Port, where he tasted success, winning the Chinese Super League title three times. Now, he has returned to familiar grounds.

The midfielder, who played 48 matches for Brazil from 2011 to 2016, expressed his happiness about playing for São Paulo again after such a long time.

“I’m happy to return to Brazil and to São Paulo, the club where I started my career, laid my foundation, and grew as a player,” said Oscar.
