Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta has hinted at keeping an eye on the January transfer window following a series of injuries within the squad. However, he hasn’t confirmed whether the club will sign new players.

In recent weeks, Arsenal has been plagued by injuries. Most recently, attacking midfielder Ethan Nwaneri was sidelined, prompting speculation that the Gunners might look for reinforcements.

Earlier, Bukayo Saka, who had been in excellent form since the start of the season, was ruled out for an extended period due to injury. Nwaneri, just 17 years old, stepped in to fill the void, even scoring Arsenal’s only goal in their 1-1 draw against Brighton in the league. However, Nwaneri suffered a muscle injury in that match and was substituted during the first half.

Ahead of Arsenal’s League Cup semi-final clash with Newcastle United on Tuesday, Arteta confirmed Nwaneri’s injury during a press conference.

“Unfortunately, he has suffered a muscle injury and will be out for a few weeks,” said Arteta.

Arsenal is also dealing with the absence of experienced midfielder Raheem Sterling due to injury, and there is uncertainty about Kai Havertz’s availability for the upcoming match. With limited options to cover attacking roles, the club is considering a move during the transfer window, though Arteta has remained noncommittal.

“We will keep a close eye on the transfer market. Whether we sign someone or not is neither a yes nor a no,” Arteta remarked.

Media reports suggest Arsenal is interested in Newcastle United forward Alexander Isak, who has been in red-hot form, scoring nine goals in his last seven league appearances. However, Newcastle coach Eddie Howe is adamant about keeping the Swedish striker and has no intention of letting him go.
