PSG have further consolidated their position at the top of the league table while continuing their unbeaten run.

Ousmane Dembélé, who has long struggled with consistency in his career, is now showing remarkable form. In just four days, the French forward has scored his second hat-trick. PSG strengthened their top spot in the league table with a 5-2 win over Brest.

In Saturday’s Ligue 1 match away at Brest, Luis Enrique’s side secured a 5-2 victory. Portuguese forward Gonçalo Ramos scored the other two goals for PSG.

Dembélé put his team ahead in the first half and completed his hat-trick with two more goals in the second half. Ramos scored twice towards the end of the match.

Just last Wednesday, in the final round of the first stage of the Champions League, Dembélé netted a hat-trick in PSG’s 4-1 win against Stuttgart.

In his last eight matches for PSG across all competitions, Dembélé has scored 14 goals. With 19 goals in 26 matches this season, he has already surpassed his previous career best in a single season.

His previous highest goal tally was 14 goals during the 2018-19 season for Barcelona in 42 appearances.

Dembélé joined Barcelona in 2017 from Borussia Dortmund with high expectations. However, despite occasional flashes of brilliance, he was never able to maintain consistency with the Catalan club.

Leaving Camp Nou in August 2023, Dembélé moved to PSG, where in his first season, he only managed six goals in 42 matches across all competitions. But this season, he has already scored 19 goals halfway through the campaign.

Currently, PSG is the only unbeaten team in Ligue 1, sitting at the top with 50 points from 20 matches—15 wins and five draws. Marseille is second with 37 points from 19 matches.

Brest, with 28 points from the same number of games, sits in eighth place.

PSG will face Brest again in mid-February in a two-legged play-off for a spot in the Champions League Round of 16.
