There is confusion over whether Slot’s suspension is for one or two matches.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot’s two-match suspension has sparked confusion. The Premier League initially announced the ban on its website, only to remove the statement shortly afterward.

On Thursday, the league confirmed Slot’s suspension following his red card in the match against Everton. Their statement read, “Slot was shown a red card by referee Michael Oliver for using offensive, insulting, or abusive language.”

However, just an hour later, the statement was taken down. When contacted for clarification, the league did not immediately respond to Reuters’ request for comment.

Typically, managers receive a one-match suspension for a red card. If Slot is indeed banned for two games, he will be absent from the touchline for Liverpool’s upcoming Premier League matches against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Aston Villa.

Earlier this season, Slot had already served a one-match dugout suspension after receiving his third yellow card, which kept him out of Liverpool’s FA Cup clash against Southampton.

Slot’s assistant, Sipke Hulshoff, was also shown a red card against Everton. As a result, neither of them was allowed to speak to the media after the match.

The Merseyside derby ended in a 2-2 draw. In the eighth minute of added time, James Tarkowski’s equalizer led to a heated celebration by Everton’s Abdoulaye Doucouré in front of Liverpool fans, provoking Curtis Jones, who reacted angrily. This sparked a scuffle involving players from both benches after the final whistle.

As a result of the altercation, both Doucouré and Jones were also shown red cards by the referee.
