Inter Miami’s CONCACAF Champions Cup match against Sporting Kansas City has been postponed by a day due to severe weather conditions.

Originally scheduled for Tuesday, the game was pushed back to Wednesday as extreme cold and the threat of a snowstorm made playing conditions unsafe. The delay gives Lionel Messi and his teammates an extra day to prepare for their first match of the season.

In an official statement, CONCACAF confirmed that the decision was made in consultation with both teams, prioritizing the safety of players and fans.

This first-round CONCACAF Champions Cup tie will be played over two legs, with the second leg set for next Tuesday. The team that comes out on top over both legs will advance to the Round of 16, where they will face Jamaican club Cavalier.

Inter Miami’s new head coach, Javier Mascherano, has confirmed that Argentine superstar Lionel Messi will be part of the squad for the first leg.

Meanwhile, Miami will kick off their MLS season on Saturday with a home match against New York City FC, while Sporting Kansas City will travel to face Austin FC on the same day.
