The Spanish Football Federation has announced that Antony’s red card has been overturned following Real Betis’ appeal.
Real Betis received good news after their appeal, as the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) decided to revoke winger Antony’s red card. This means the Brazilian is eligible to play against Real Madrid.
Betis will face the reigning La Liga champions on Saturday. The RFEF confirmed on Wednesday that the 25-year-old’s red card had been rescinded.
Antony joined Betis on loan from Manchester United in January for the remainder of the season. Last Sunday, he received a red card in his sixth match for his new club.
He was sent off directly for a tackle on defender Juan Iglesias in Betis’ 2-1 win over Getafe. However, Betis appealed the decision, arguing that the referee’s report did not fully reflect the on-field incident.
After reviewing the case, the RFEF disciplinary committee ruled in favor of Betis, lifting Antony’s suspension.
Betis currently sits seventh in the league table. Meanwhile, second-placed Real Madrid will be without English midfielder Jude Bellingham for the upcoming match. He is serving a two-game suspension after receiving a red card against Osasuna.
