After spending seven months without a club, Sergio Ramos was enjoying a fresh start at Monterrey. However, a momentary loss of temper not only earned him a red card but also sparked criticism against the World Cup-winning defender.

A legendary center-back, former Real Madrid captain, and key figure in multiple triumphs, Ramos left his beloved club in 2021 to join PSG before returning to Sevilla. But after terminating his contract with his boyhood club in 2024, he remained unattached for nearly seven months.

That uncertainty ended in February when he signed with Mexican club Monterrey, quickly becoming a vital player. Ramos made an immediate impact, scoring three goals in just five matches.

However, the 38-year-old had a bitter experience in the Liga MX match against Pumas early Monday morning (Bangladesh time). Frustrated after losing possession near the sideline, Ramos lashed out with a kick at an opponent, leading to his immediate dismissal.

Receiving red cards is nothing new for Ramos. The decorated defender, who won four Champions League and five La Liga titles with Real Madrid, was sent off 26 times during his tenure at the Santiago Bernabéu, including a record 20 dismissals in La Liga alone.
