Kylian Mbappé’s past and present clubs could potentially face off in the Champions League semi-finals. However, the French forward has no interest in discussing that possibility right now.

If Real Madrid and PSG both advance from their respective quarter-finals, they will meet in the last four of the competition. This matchup would undoubtedly stir mixed emotions for Mbappé. But for now, the Madrid star refuses to waste any time thinking about it—his focus is solely on Arsenal, Real Madrid’s quarter-final opponent.

Madrid will take on Arsenal in two legs on April 8 and 16, while PSG faces Aston Villa on April 9 and 15. If both teams win, a high-stakes showdown between Mbappé’s current and former clubs will be set for the semi-finals.

On one side is the club where Mbappé has thrived in his first season, delivering stellar performances for Real Madrid. On the other is PSG, the club where he became the all-time leading goalscorer. His move to Madrid followed years of speculation, drama, and debate, making a potential clash between the two sides all the more intriguing.

Even though the possibility of this encounter is still uncertain, the anticipation is already building. When asked about it in an interview with the French newspaper Le Parisien, Mbappé’s reaction suggested mild irritation.

“Forcing me to think about that would be your biggest mistake. It reminds me of last season when everyone assumed PSG and Real Madrid would meet in the final. But in the end, we (PSG) didn’t even make it. Right now, my only focus is on Arsenal, our quarter-final opponents.”

In the same interview, Mbappé reaffirmed his ambition to win the treble in his debut season with Real Madrid—an achievement the club has never accomplished before. He sees no point in focusing on just one potential opponent.

“We’re competing in every tournament. At this stage of the season, we have the chance to achieve something great. All our energy should be dedicated to ourselves and the matches ahead. Speculation about a PSG-Real Madrid clash should be left to the fans—they can make predictions and get carried away. We don’t have time for that.”

PSG’s owner, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, made every effort to keep Mbappé at the club, and their relationship reportedly became strained when he decided to leave. However, the forward insists he holds no grudges.

“If I face PSG in the Champions League, of course, I will shake hands with Nasser. I’m not someone who only focuses on negativity. In both my professional and personal life, I am grateful to those who have been part of my journey.”
