After a challenging season filled with problems, Manchester United is now seeing a bit of positive momentum towards the end. With key defensive players returning from injury, it remains to be seen how much impact they can make in the final stretch of the season.

One of those players is defender Luke Shaw, who has returned to training after nearly four months away due to a muscle injury. Shaw last played in United’s 4-0 win against Everton on December 1st, and since then, he has been sidelined. However, on Friday, he was seen training with coach Ruben Amuri’s main squad at Carrington, signaling a long-awaited return.

The 29-year-old English defender spent much of last year on the sidelines due to injuries, managing to play only three matches for the club since February, all as a substitute. Despite this, Shaw was part of England’s starting lineup in the Euro 2024 final against Spain in July, playing three matches in Germany.

After a recent FA Cup exit to Fulham, Amuri’s team gets a brief break this weekend. Their next match is on Tuesday in the Premier League, against Nottingham Forest. In addition to Shaw, veteran defender Harry Maguire and young player Lenny Yoro have also returned to training.

Maguire, who has missed the last three weeks due to injury, is back, while Yoro was forced off with an injury during the 1-1 draw against Arsenal on March 9th and has been absent since then.

Despite a season of inconsistent performances, Manchester United has managed to avoid defeat in their last four matches, winning two and drawing two. With 10 wins and 7 draws from 29 games, they currently sit in 13th place in the Premier League.
