Bayern Munich 3 – 2 St. Pauli

Despite a late goal that narrowed the gap, relegation-threatened St. Pauli ran out of time to stage a full comeback.

The day before, Bayer Leverkusen had closed the gap at the top of the table. However, with this victory over St. Pauli, Bayern Munich restored their 6-point lead within 24 hours.

The Bundesliga clash at the Allianz Arena on Saturday saw the hosts secure a 3-2 win.

After 27 matches, Bayern now sits at the top with 65 points from 20 wins and 5 draws. Leverkusen, who beat Bochum 3-1 on Friday, remains second with 59 points.

Bayern dominated possession with over 65%, playing aggressive football right from the start. It didn’t take long for them to break the deadlock. In the 17th minute, Harry Kane found the net from Olise’s pass, putting Bayern ahead.

Since joining Bayern last season and finishing as the Bundesliga’s top scorer in his debut campaign, Kane continues to shine. This goal marked his 22nd of the season, keeping him at the top of the scoring chart.

However, Bayern couldn’t hold the lead for long. In the 27th minute, Tunisian forward Ilyes Saad found the equalizer, and the visitors went into the break level.

St. Pauli, sitting near the bottom of the table, failed to create any more magic in the second half. Bayern took control, with German forward Leroy Sané scoring twice — in the 53rd and 71st minutes — to put the hosts firmly on the path to victory.

In the final minute of added time, German defender Ritzka scored a stunning goal from outside the box to reduce the deficit. However, it was too little, too late to change the outcome of the match.
