Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany is doubtful about having Jamal Musiala available for the first leg of their Champions League quarterfinal.

Bayern Munich has faced a major setback at a crucial time in the season with an injury to their young attacking midfielder, Jamal Musiala. There are concerns over whether he will be fit for the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinals.

Bayern will face Inter Milan on Tuesday in the first leg of their battle for a place in the semifinals, with the return leg scheduled for April 16.

Musiala sustained the injury during Bayern’s 3-1 win over Augsburg in the Bundesliga on Friday. After Bayern fell behind 1-0 in the 30th minute, Musiala equalized just 12 minutes later.

However, the 22-year-old had to limp off the pitch in the 54th minute. The exact nature of his injury is yet to be confirmed, but it is suspected that he has suffered a hamstring issue.

Four minutes after Musiala left the field, Bayern suffered another blow when Swiss defender Cedric Ségiger was sent off with a red card. Playing with 10 men, Bayern regained the lead through a header from Harry Kane, and then added another goal from an own goal in added time.

Despite the victory, Bayern’s coach, Vincent Kompany, expressed frustration about Musiala’s injury.

“We’ve already played a few matches without Jamal this season. I’m not a doctor, so I don’t want to look too far ahead. Unfortunately, it seems like he won’t be able to play in the Inter match. After today’s and tomorrow’s tests, we will know more.”

Bayern is already without key defenders Hiroki Ito, Alphonso Davies, Dayot Upamecano, and their first-choice goalkeeper Manuel Neuer. Now, Musiala joins their growing list of injured players.

With this win over Augsburg, Bayern has solidified its position at the top of the Bundesliga standings, now 9 points ahead of second-placed Bayer Leverkusen.
