Arsenal 1 – 1 Everton

Mikel Arteta’s team is now at risk of falling further behind in the Premier League title race.

Arsenal couldn’t hold onto their lead after going ahead, allowing Everton to come back and grab a point. This result puts them at a greater risk of slipping further in the title chase.

On Saturday, the Premier League match at Goodison Park ended in a 1-1 draw. Arsenal initially took the lead with a goal from Leandro Trossard, but Everton equalized through Iliman Ndiaye.

After two consecutive wins, Arsenal have now suffered a setback. With 62 points from 31 matches (17 wins, 11 draws), they remain in second place. Liverpool, with a game in hand, are top with 11 more points.

If Arsenal lose to Fulham on Sunday, they’ll fall 14 points behind their rivals.

For the first 30 minutes, neither team managed to hit the target. In the 34th minute, Arsenal took their first shot and took the lead. Trossard controlled the ball, entered the box, and beat the goalkeeper with a low, angled shot.

Before halftime, Arsenal had two great chances to extend their lead, but neither opportunity resulted in a goal. Trossard’s shot from a difficult angle was saved by the keeper, and Declan Rice’s effort was blocked by the defense.

Everton responded quickly in the second half. In the very first minute, they won a penalty when Jack Harmison was fouled in the box. Iliman Ndiaye converted the spot kick to level the score.

Just three minutes later, Everton threatened again, but Abdoulaye Doucouré’s curling shot was saved by Arsenal’s goalkeeper, David Raya.

From that point, Arsenal dominated possession and pressed for a winner. However, they were unable to create clear chances. In the 84th minute, substitute Gabriel Martinelli took a powerful shot from the edge of the box, but Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford was able to make a crucial save.

Arsenal kept the pressure on in the remaining time, not allowing Everton much attacking play. But despite Arsenal’s dominance, Everton held on to claim a valuable point.

With 35 points from 31 matches, Everton have climbed to 14th place.

In just three days, Arsenal will face Real Madrid at home in a crucial Champions League match. This setback will be a significant blow for Arteta’s team ahead of such an important clash.
