Manchester United 0 – 0 Manchester City

Despite having a chance to move back into the top four by surpassing Chelsea, Pep Guardiola’s team failed to spark any real possibility.

The hype surrounding the derby was not reflected on the pitch at all. The teams ran back and forth with the ball, and a few shots were taken towards goal, but none found the back of the net.

At Old Trafford on Sunday, the Premier League match ended in a goalless draw, with both teams playing lackluster football.

While Manchester City had the opportunity to leapfrog Chelsea into the top four, they couldn’t capitalize on it.

With 52 points from 31 matches, Manchester City sit in 5th place, just 1 point behind 4th-placed Chelsea.

Manchester United, with 38 points from the same number of matches, are in 13th place.

From the very first minute, the ball was moved quickly across the field, but neither team created any real threat to the opposition with their aimless attacks.

United had two good chances in the 27th and 29th minutes, but Patrick Dogu and Manuel Ugarte both failed to hit the target.

In the first half, both teams had four shots each, with just one on target for each side. However, neither goalkeeper was seriously tested.

After the break, City’s play gained some tempo. In the 64th minute, they created a brilliant opportunity. Omar Marmoush’s free-kick, which went over the defensive wall, was on target but saved by André Onana.

In the 77th minute, United had a good chance to take the lead, but Morocco’s defender Noussair Mazraoui’s powerful shot was blocked by Ederson.

In another match that day, Liverpool, leading the title race, lost 3-2 to Fulham.

With 73 points from 31 matches, Liverpool remain at the top, 11 points ahead of second-placed Arsenal.
