“At Anfield, just a day after signing a new contract, the Egyptian forward broke a record.”

Mohamed Salah wasted no time making headlines after renewing his contract with Liverpool. In his first appearance since the new deal, he claimed a record outright—one he previously shared.

Salah now solely holds the record for the most goal involvements (goals + assists) in a single 38-game Premier League season. He had been tied with Thierry Henry and Erling Haaland, but Sunday’s performance at Anfield saw him take the top spot alone.

In Liverpool’s 2-1 victory over West Ham United, Salah played a key role in Luis Díaz’s goal, lifting his tally to 45 goal involvements this season—27 goals and 18 assists. The previous record of 44 had been set by the legendary Thierry Henry in the 2002–03 season and matched by Haaland last season.

Now, Salah is eyeing an even bigger milestone.

In the older 42-match format of the Premier League, two greats—Andrew Cole and Alan Shearer—hold the record for most goal involvements in a single season with 47. Cole achieved this in 1993–94, and Shearer matched it the following year.

With six league games still to go and Salah in sizzling form, it seems only a matter of time before he breaks that long-standing record too.

Meanwhile, Liverpool sit at the top of the league table with 76 points from 32 matches, 13 points ahead of second-placed Arsenal. A win in the next round could even seal the title for Arne Slot’s side.
