There were immediate concerns about a serious injury when he left the field during the match against Getafe.
Injuries have been continuously affecting the team’s performance, and things are going from bad to worse for Real Madrid. Adding to their troubles, Eduardo Camavinga is now set to miss a significant amount of time due to a serious injury to his leg.
In a statement released on the club’s website Thursday, it was revealed that Camavinga had severely damaged his left abductor tendon. However, the statement did not specify how long it would take for him to recover.
Spanish media reports indicate that his recovery time will likely be long. According to AS, the French midfielder is expected to miss the upcoming Club World Cup scheduled for June-July, which will feature 32 teams.
Although primarily a midfielder, the 22-year-old has shown versatility, often playing in defense when needed. This season, he has been deployed in that role for most of his time at Real Madrid.
During the 1-0 win against Getafe on Wednesday night in La Liga, Camavinga was once again placed in a defensive role, replacing the injured David Alaba. However, in the 89th minute, he sustained an injury to his leg after a collision with an opponent while attempting a counter-attack. He was unable to continue and had to leave the match.
With all substitutions already used, Real Madrid finished the game with 10 players. In the post-match press conference, coach Carlo Ancelotti hinted that both Camavinga and Alaba were unlikely to feature in the upcoming Copa del Rey final.
Now, those fears have been confirmed. Real Madrid will face Barcelona in the Copa del Rey final on Saturday without Camavinga.
