Hansi Flick doesn’t want to add pressure on players against Inter Milan
With the chance to reach the Champions League final for the first time in a decade, the stakes are high for Barcelona. However, coach Hansi Flick doesn’t want to put any extra pressure on his players. Ahead of the return leg against Inter Milan, he urged Rafinha, Lamine Yamal, and the other players to simply enjoy the game.
Barcelona will face Inter Milan in the second leg of the semifinals on Tuesday, at the San Siro. The match will kick off at 1:00 AM Bangladesh time.
In the first leg, Barcelona fought back from two deficits to draw 3-3 at home. They need a win in the return leg if they’re to reach the final, something they haven’t done since 2015.
In big matches, experience often plays a key role. At Monday’s press conference, Flick pointed out that his team had already secured two trophies this season—the Spanish Super Cup and the Copa del Rey.
“We’ve won two titles this season. Every player improves when they step onto the field. This is the best test for their development; they learn a lot. In this match, they shouldn’t feel the pressure—they should enjoy the game and play with their teammates. We want to compete in the best possible way without giving up.”
When asked if he would give a special speech or motivational video to inspire the players before the match, Flick emphasized that he doesn’t want to add any extra pressure.
“It’s just like before. We need to enjoy tomorrow’s match. At this stage, playing is what matters most. We can make it to the final. I don’t want to put pressure on the players; we need to enjoy the moment. I want them to fight as a united team.”
Robert Lewandowski will return from injury for this match, but Flick confirmed that the Polish striker will not start in the lineup.
