Arsenal 1 – 0 Newcastle United

After three games without a win, Mikel Arteta’s side finally tasted victory again, making it almost certain they will finish as runners-up in the English Premier League for the third consecutive time.

Declan Rice’s right-footed strike from outside the box found its way into Newcastle United’s net. His goal early in the second half proved to be the decisive difference. Arsenal secured their first Premier League win in three matches and confirmed their place in next season’s Champions League.

In a crucial clash between second and third place on the table, Arsenal triumphed 1-0 at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday. Rice scored in the 55th minute.

Newcastle dominated the attack in the first half, but Arsenal played better in the second. Over the course of the match, Arsenal took 12 shots, with 4 on target, while Newcastle managed 14 shots, 5 of which were on goal.

Arsenal are now nearly certain to finish as Premier League runners-up for the third straight season. After 37 matches, they sit second with 19 wins and 14 draws, totaling 71 points. Liverpool, already champions, lead with 83 points from 36 games.

Newcastle hold third place with 66 points from 37 matches, followed by Chelsea in fourth, Aston Villa fifth, Manchester City sixth, and Nottingham Forest seventh. These five teams will compete for three Champions League spots next season.

Among them, only Manchester City has two games left, while the others have one each remaining.

This season, the top five teams in the Premier League will earn spots on Europe’s biggest stage.
