French football legend Zinedine Zidane also shared a piece of advice for young players.
As time goes on, the admiration for Lamine Yamal continues to grow. The young Barcelona forward regularly earns praise from both players and coaches—and now, Zidane has joined that list.
Speaking at an event, the former Real Madrid coach, who famously guided the club to three consecutive Champions League titles, expressed his amazement at the 17-year-old talent.
“When you watch him play—take the semi-final against Inter Milan, for example—I’ve never seen anything like it,” Zidane said. “It’s the first time I’ve seen someone have so much control over their creativity on the pitch.”
Yamal has already drawn plaudits from stars like David Villa, Simone Inzaghi, Cole Palmer, Bukayo Saka, and Alessandro Bastoni. Zidane is the latest big name to add to that growing list.
“Watching him play brings joy to all of us,” Zidane continued. “That’s why young players should be watching Lamine’s games.”
Although Zidane has been away from the dugout since leaving Real Madrid, he hasn’t ruled out a return—especially if the chance to coach France comes along.
“I feel 100% ready to return to coaching,” he said. “Of course, there’s a desire to manage the French national team. But right now, they already have a coach, and we must respect that—and we do. Still, if the opportunity comes in the future, it would be a great honor.”
