With two goals and an assist, 19-year-old French winger Désiré Doué lit up his first-ever Champions League final and ended Paris Saint-Germain’s long wait for European glory.
The commentator was saying, “Doué now has the chance for a hat-trick.” Moments later, the coach took him off. But by the 65th minute, what the young star had already done was more than enough — PSG had the match in full control. He played a role in the opening goal, scored twice himself, and dazzled throughout with his electric performance. Just two days before his 20th birthday, Doué became the hero behind PSG’s long-awaited Champions League title.
On the biggest night of his career so far, Doué turned the final into his personal stage. In Munich on Saturday night, PSG humiliated Inter Milan with a dominant 5–0 victory to become champions of Europe for the very first time.
With two goals and an assist, the French winger not only stole the spotlight but also set multiple records.
In the 12th minute, he was involved in PSG’s first goal. Vitinha played a pass into the box, which Doué controlled calmly. He quickly noticed the goalkeeper charging at him and selflessly passed across to Achraf Hakimi, who slotted home with ease.
Eight minutes later, Doué got his name on the scoresheet — with a bit of fortune. After PSG broke down an Inter attack and launched a fast counter, Doué received the ball inside the box and fired a shot that deflected off Inter defender Federico Dimarco and went in.
At 19 years and 362 days old, only two players have scored in a Champions League final at a younger age: Patrick Kluivert (18 years, 327 days for Ajax in 1995) and Carlos Alberto (19 years, 167 days for Porto in 2004).
Doué also became just the sixth player ever to both score and assist in a Champions League final — and no one has done that at a younger age.
In the 63rd minute, he scored his second goal of the night, making it 3–0 and all but ending Inter’s hopes. Vitinha picked him out with a perfect through ball, and Doué finished it with clinical precision.
He is now the first teenager in history to score twice in a Champions League final. He’s also the first player since 1964 in a European Cup or Champions League final to register both two goals and one assist in a single match.
This is Doué’s debut season with PSG. He joined the club from Rennes in August 2024 on a five-year deal. In his first year, he’s played a major role in PSG’s historic “quadruple” — winning Ligue 1, the French Cup, the French Super Cup, and the Champions League.
In Ligue 1, he scored 6 goals and provided 8 assists in 31 matches. In the French Cup, he had 4 goals and 4 assists in 6 appearances — including assists for the first two goals in the 3–0 final win. In the Champions League, his debut season included 5 goals and 4 assists in 16 games.
Across all competitions this season, Doué finished with 15 goals and 16 assists in 54 matches, playing a crucial role in one of the most successful seasons in PSG’s history.
And yes — the Club World Cup is still to come!
