At his official unveiling as a Real Madrid player, the English defender expressed hope for achieving significant success with the club.
For any footballer, Real Madrid is a dream destination. Now that dream is beginning for Trent Alexander-Arnold. During the introduction ceremony, his voice naturally carried the emotion of fulfillment, each word brimming with excitement. He is eager to bring success to one of Europe’s most successful clubs and to put a smile on the faces of Real Madrid’s passionate supporters. At his new club, he will be known simply as “Trent.”
Born and raised in Liverpool, Alexander-Arnold spent his entire childhood and professional life at the club. Last month, he left his beloved team after signing a six-year contract with Real Madrid. That farewell was tearful; now, on Thursday, his voice reflected the joy of a dream come true.
“Thank you to club president Florentino Pérez and the club for giving me this opportunity. Signing with Real is not something that happens every day. It is a dream come true for me.”
“I am very happy and proud to be here. I am truly looking forward to showing the Madrid fans what I can do on the pitch. But I also know that playing for Real Madrid comes with great responsibility.”
Alexander-Arnold proved his defensive skills at Liverpool, winning two Premier League titles, one Champions League, an FA Cup, a UEFA Super Cup, and many other trophies. Now, at 26, he is eager to start a new chapter and celebrate success once again.
“I’m ready to give everything for the team and the club. I can’t wait to perform, win many trophies, become a champion, grow as a footballer, and enjoy every moment alongside some of the best players in the world.”
Wearing the number 12 jersey for Real Madrid, Alexander-Arnold leaves behind his Liverpool number 66. Spanish football regulations forbid players from using their previous club’s numbers, which is why he will wear 12.
On the back of his jersey, instead of “Alexander-Arnold,” he will have the shorter “Trent.” This is to help Spanish commentators pronounce his name more easily.
