Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola warmly congratulated 24-year-old star Erling Haaland for reaching an incredible milestone.
Haaland did not start the match but came on early in the second half as a substitute for Omar Marmoush. Within seven minutes, he was already celebrating a goal. While the goal itself wasn’t anything extraordinary, the occasion certainly was. This goal marked a special achievement for the City striker.
On Thursday, Manchester City thrashed Juventus 5-2 in the Club World Cup, securing top spot in Group G. Haaland scored the team’s third goal.
This was the 24-year-old’s 300th career goal across club and country.
Amazingly, he reached this triple-century in just 370 matches. According to ESPN, Haaland is the fastest ever to this milestone — ahead of three football legends: Cristiano Ronaldo (554 matches), Lionel Messi (418 matches), and Kylian Mbappé (409 matches).
Most of his goals have come while wearing the City jersey. He has netted 124 goals in just 145 appearances for the English club.
On this memorable day, Guardiola shared his pride and admiration for Haaland.
“All I can say is, ‘Congratulations.’ Scoring 300 goals at just 24 years old… I have great respect for him as a striker. I’m so happy for Erling. The number of goals he scores and how involved he is in tight spaces — it’s all excellent.”
In the Club World Cup Round of 16, Haaland and Manchester City will face Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal.
