Igor Jesus, who has already made a name for himself in club football and even represented the Brazil national team, is now set to take his talents to English football. The Brazilian striker, known for sparking one of the biggest upsets in this year’s Club World Cup and shining throughout the tournament, has been signed by Nottingham Forest.
Nottingham confirmed Jesus’s signing on Sunday with a four-year contract, though the club did not disclose any transfer details.
Jesus impressed at this year’s Club World Cup held in the United States, delivering standout performances for Botafogo. The Brazilian side stunned Europe’s champions PSG in the knockout stage by winning 1-0, with Jesus scoring the match’s only goal.
He also found the net in their opening win against Seattle Sounders.
Botafogo’s run ended in the quarter-finals after losing to another Brazilian club, Palmeiras.
Jesus joined Botafogo in July 2024 from Shabab Al Ahli in the UAE. During his time there, he tasted success by winning the Copa Libertadores, Latin America’s premier tournament, and the Brazilian Serie A.
Thanks to his consistent club form, Jesus earned his first call-up to the Brazil national team during the October-November World Cup qualifiers, marking his debut with a goal against Chile.
Now, he faces the challenge of European football. Although Nottingham Forest finished seventh in the 2024-25 Premier League season—just missing out on Champions League qualification—they will compete in the UEFA Conference League next season.
