The All Nepal Football Association has announced on their official website that they will play two friendly matches against Bangladesh during the upcoming FIFA international window in September.
As part of their preparations for the AFC Asian Cup qualifiers, Nepal will face Bangladesh in the first friendly match on September 6. The two teams will meet again three days later at the Dashrath Stadium in Kathmandu for the second friendly encounter.
Nepal is in Group F of the qualifiers alongside Malaysia, Laos, and Vietnam. So far, they have played two matches and lost both. Their next qualifier is scheduled for October 9 against Vietnam.
Bangladesh, competing in Group C, has played two qualifiers as well—starting with a goalless draw against India followed by a 2-1 home defeat to Singapore in June. Bangladesh’s next qualifier will be on October 9 at home against Hong Kong.
Ahead of the Hong Kong match, the Bangladesh Football Federation (BAFUE) had expressed the intention to organize friendly matches during the September window as part of their preparation. On Sunday, the All Nepal Football Association confirmed the plan to play friendlies against Bangladesh.
Efforts to reach BAFUE General Secretary Imran Hossain Tushar for comment were unsuccessful as he did not respond to calls.
