Liverpool’s summer spending is set to exceed £250 million with their latest signing.
Liverpool has reached an agreement with German club Eintracht Frankfurt to sign striker Hugo Ekitike.
The 23-year-old French forward is expected to arrive in the UK on Tuesday for his medical.
Liverpool’s total outlay for Ekitike could reach £79 million, with £69 million paid upfront to Frankfurt and the remaining £10 million subject to various conditions.
The BBC report also claims that Ekitike’s contract with Liverpool could span six years, and he is expected to join the squad for their Asia tour next week.
Last season, Frankfurt secured third place in the Bundesliga and qualified for the Champions League. Ekitike played 31 matches as a starter and scored 15 goals for the team.
With this signing, Liverpool’s total summer spending will surpass £250 million. Earlier, they signed Florian Wirtz for a potential British record fee of £116 million, as well as Hungarian defender Milos Kerkez and Dutch defender Jérémy Frimpong for a combined £70 million.
