Mikel Arteta believes Arsenal have everything required to win the title.
The Spanish coach expects the competition in the upcoming Premier League season to be even fiercer, and he’s confident Arsenal—along with several other teams—will be right in the title race.
Arsenal have finished runners-up in the Premier League for the past three seasons. This summer, they’ve strengthened further by signing Kepa Arrizabalaga, Martín Zubimendi, and Cristián Nwankwo. More signings could still follow.
Liverpool (2 titles), Manchester City (6), and Chelsea (1) have shared the last nine Premier League crowns—and they too have made significant moves in the transfer market this summer.
During Arsenal’s pre-season camp in Singapore, Arteta was asked whether it’s time for his team to take the final step and claim a major trophy. The Spaniard shared his thoughts:
“Every year, we have to see how much we are improving as a team. I see the right balance in the squad—in terms of maturity, experience, youth, and hunger,” he said.
“There are another six, seven, or even eight teams in the league with the right ingredients to win—and only one team can actually do it. So, we have to really focus on the things we can control to achieve what we want at the end of the season.”
When asked directly whether Arsenal have everything it takes to win the league, Arteta replied:
“Yes, I believe we do. The competition is growing every year. The intensity of the battle is increasing. So, we know our ambitions have to be big.”
Arsenal will kick off their pre-season campaign in Singapore with a match against AC Milan on Wednesday.
