For the same reason, Barcelona’s South Korea tour now also hangs in uncertainty.
After cancelling their pre-season friendly in Japan over allegations of breach of contract by the promotional company, the Catalan club’s upcoming matches in South Korea are now also uncertain.
Barcelona was scheduled to play Vissel Kobe in Japan this Sunday. Following that, the Spanish champions were set to face Seoul FC on July 31 and Daegu FC on August 4 in South Korea.
In a statement, Barcelona said they were forced to take a tough decision due to serious breaches of contract.
“Barcelona announces that due to serious breaches of contract by the promotional company, the match scheduled for this Sunday in Japan has been cancelled. However, the South Korea leg of this summer tour may still be arranged if the promotional company fulfills some of the contract conditions,” the statement read.
“If those conditions are met, the club will travel to South Korea at a later date. Barcelona regrets the impact this cancellation will have on many fans in Japan.”
Vissel Kobe also issued a statement expressing their stance on the matter.
“We sincerely apologise to the countless supporters and all parties involved who were eagerly awaiting this match. We are working closely with all stakeholders to gather necessary information and take appropriate action,” their statement said.
