However, the possibility of him changing clubs is not over yet.
Jack Grealish has already lost his place in the team and was left out of the Club World Cup squad. Amid ongoing uncertainty about his future, he has returned to training with his Manchester City teammates.
But this does not signal any new hope for him to secure a spot in City’s squad. Everton and West Ham United are trying to sign the English midfielder.
Grealish joined City in 2021 from Aston Villa for a hefty transfer fee. Initially, he showed his potential and was a key player during the club’s historic treble-winning campaign two years ago.
However, those good times didn’t last. Despite City’s late-season comeback after a poor start last season, Grealish remained sidelined for most of the time. He was then left out of Pep Guardiola’s squad for the FIFA Club World Cup in June-July.
In mid-June, the coach made it clear that a move away would be best for Grealish to get regular playing time. He spent most of the time training alone afterward.
Finally, on Monday, Grealish joined the team for the first preseason training session.
The 29-year-old player is likely to be sold, but with the summer transfer window closing soon, City might try to loan him out temporarily as a short-term solution, according to ESPN.
Grealish still has two years left on his contract with the Etihad Stadium club.
