Barcelona want to fight for every trophy each season, says French defender Jules Koundé — and he’s now committed to doing just that until 2030.

With two years still left on his current contract, Koundé’s consistent performances have earned him a well-deserved reward. A new deal is already finalized, and the defender couldn’t be happier. After extending his contract, he expressed his excitement and ambition to keep challenging for every title.

Koundé’s existing deal with Barcelona ran until June 2027. Now, it’s been extended by three more years — keeping him at the Catalan club until 2030.

Currently with the team in South Korea for the start of their pre-season Asia tour, Koundé confirmed during a media briefing in Seoul that the deal is done, and only the official announcement remains.

“Yes, it’s just a matter of time now. Once we return to Barcelona, we’ll take care of all the formalities. I’m really happy.”

“Everything moved quickly. The club and I had the same vision — to keep moving forward together. I feel great here, very comfortable in this team, and I’m inspired by the club’s ambitions. Every year, we aim to compete for all the titles, and I have no intention of leaving Barcelona. My contract now runs until 2030.”

Koundé played a key role in Barcelona’s successful campaign last season, helping them win La Liga, the Spanish Super Cup, and the Copa del Rey. Thanks to his consistent performances, the 26-year-old has become Xavi’s go-to option at right back.

The defender, who rose through the ranks at French club Bordeaux, made his professional debut there before moving to Sevilla in 2019. After three strong seasons in La Liga, he joined Barcelona in 2022 under Xavi Hernández.

Since then, Koundé has made 141 appearances in all competitions for the Catalans. Alongside his defensive duties, he’s scored 7 goals and provided 18 assists. He’s won two La Liga titles, two Spanish Super Cups, and one Copa del Rey with the club — and has been named in the La Liga Team of the Season three times.
