Although Tyler Morton played five matches for Liverpool last season, he didn’t make any Premier League appearances.
The English midfielder, who has represented England at youth levels, has signed a five-year contract with Olympique Lyon after moving from Liverpool.
Both clubs have confirmed the transfer, though no official statements revealed the transfer fee. However, according to sources cited by ESPN, the deal is reportedly worth around £15 million.
Morton, who rose through Liverpool’s youth ranks, made 14 appearances for the senior team overall. Last season, he featured in five matches — none of which were in the Premier League.
After making his senior Liverpool debut in September 2021, Morton spent the following two seasons on loan at Championship clubs Blackburn Rovers and Hull City.
In June, Morton played a key role in England’s triumph at the European Under-21 Championship. Coming on as a substitute in extra time of the final against Germany, he provided the assist for the winning goal as England secured a 3-2 victory.
