Barcelona coach Hansi Flick and his assistant Marcus Jorgo have both been handed punishments for misconduct ahead of the new season, UEFA announced.
Flick has been banned from the dugout for one Champions League match and fined €20,000. Jorgo received the same sanction. The UEFA disciplinary committee made this decision public on Friday.
The suspensions stem from incidents during the Champions League semi-final second leg last May, where Barcelona lost 4-3 at Inter Milan’s ground, ending their hopes in Europe’s top competition. Flick showed visible frustration with several refereeing decisions in that match.
As a result, both Flick and Jorgo will be unable to be present in the dugout for Barcelona’s first Champions League match of the upcoming season.
Separately, Barcelona forwards Lamine Yamal and Robert Lewandowski were fined €5,000 each for failing to comply with anti-doping officials’ instructions.
The club itself was fined €5,250 after supporters threw objects onto the pitch and €2,500 for the use of pyrotechnics during a match.
Meanwhile, Inter Milan faced fines of €22,000 for their fans obstructing public pathways and €11,500 for pyrotechnics use during games.
