Young goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier is being seen as the future replacement for star shot-stopper Gianluigi Donnarumma in the European champions’ squad.
PSG have strengthened their options between the posts, signing French goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier from Lille.
The Parisian club confirmed on Saturday that Chevalier has joined on a five-year contract. Neither side disclosed the transfer fee, but media reports suggest the figure is around €40 million.
Donnarumma, who has brought the club significant success, remains Luis Enrique’s first-choice goalkeeper. However, with just one year left on the Italian’s contract, the French champions may have made the move to secure his long-term successor.
Chevalier is delighted to join the champions’ camp and has vowed to give his all.
“Feels like I’m in a dream. Since childhood, I’ve wanted to play at the highest level. I’m thrilled to be here. I will wear this jersey with the utmost passion.”
Having risen through Lille’s academy, with a one-year loan spell at another club, Chevalier became their first-choice goalkeeper in the 2022–23 season. In 2024–25, he stood out above all in Ligue 1, winning the Best Goalkeeper award from the French professional footballers’ union (UNFP).
After lifting their first-ever Champions League trophy last season and completing a historic treble, PSG now prepare for another title clash. On Wednesday, they will face Europa League winners Tottenham Hotspur in the UEFA Super Cup.
