After weeks of speculation, Liverpool forward Darwin Núñez has officially joined Saudi Pro League giants Al Hilal on a three-year deal.
The 26-year-old Uruguayan leaves Europe after an inconsistent season at Liverpool, where he scored just five Premier League goals and started only eight league matches last term.
Al Hilal reportedly paid around €53 million, with add-ons pushing the total over €56 million. Núñez has already joined the squad for pre-season training in Germany.
Núñez began his professional career at Peñarol in Uruguay before moving to Almería and Benfica, where his performances earned him a €75 million move to Liverpool in 2022. Across three seasons, he played 143 matches for the Reds, scoring 40 goals and providing 26 assists.
Al Hilal, Saudi Arabia’s most successful club with 19 league titles, finished last season as runners-up. Under new coach Simone Inzaghi, they made history by beating Manchester City at the Club World Cup.
With Núñez and new signing Theo Hernandez, Al Hilal aim to reclaim the Saudi league crown this season.
