PSG has yet to make an official announcement. However, French outlet Le Parisien reported that Gianluigi Donnarumma has been left out of PSG’s UEFA Super Cup squad for Wednesday night. Several other European media sources, along with renowned Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano—known for his reliability in transfer news—have confirmed the same. According to them, the relationship between Donnarumma and PSG has completely broken down, making his departure inevitable. In Romano’s words, the possibility is “100%.”
The Super Cup will see PSG face Tottenham Hotspur at Udinese’s Bluenergy Stadium in Italy. According to Mail Online, Donnarumma’s omission from the squad signals a total breakdown in ties with the club. Rather than signing a new deal with the European champions, he is now set to leave. The British outlet also reported that two Premier League clubs are interested in signing the Italian goalkeeper.
Last season, Donnarumma won both the Champions League and Ligue 1 with PSG, delivering outstanding performances. Despite his contract running until June 2026, multiple media reports claim he has no intention of renewing his deal. His next destination could be a Premier League club during this transfer window.
However, RMC Sport stated that the 26-year-old will only leave PSG this summer if he finds a club that suits him; otherwise, he may stay until his contract expires. Mail Online added that while Manchester United and Chelsea are showing interest, neither club has yet made a formal offer.
European media suggest PSG moved quickly to find Donnarumma’s replacement after his refusal to sign a new deal. Last Saturday, they secured 23-year-old goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier from Lille on a five-year contract, viewing him as a long-term solution between the posts.
Donnarumma joined PSG from AC Milan in 2021, winning Ligue 1 four consecutive times and lifting the Champions League trophy. Chevalier is now expected to make his debut for PSG in the Super Cup.
