“It’s not ideal that these players leave and then we bring in someone else,” said Manchester United coach Hugues Amury.
Several players who want to leave United this summer haven’t yet found new clubs, but Amury insists the club won’t wait for departures to sign new players.
In July, United confirmed that five players wished to move on. Marcus Rashford has since joined Barcelona, but Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, Tyrell Malacia, and Jadon Sancho remain at Old Trafford.
Excluding these four, Amury named his squad for last week’s 1-0 loss to Arsenal, marking the start of United’s Premier League campaign.
Ahead of Sunday’s clash with Fulham, Amury addressed the situation at a Friday press conference, noting it isn’t ideal for the players involved.
“I know it’s not great for the players to be in this situation. But it’s clear they want to play for another club. It’s not ideal that these players leave and then we bring in someone else. We don’t know what will happen, but we’re not waiting for anyone to leave to sign new players.”
So far this summer, United have spent nearly £200 million, strengthening their attack by signing Benjamin Sesko, Mateus Quaresma, and Bryan Mbeumo.
The transfer window closes on 1 September, giving United time to further reinforce their squad.
